In its uncanny revolutionary vision of taking the Nigerian Music Industry to the next level through the revival of the grossly neglected Nigerian Gospel Music scene, the organizers of Nigeria’s Premier Gospel Awards, “THE MEGA AWARDS” (Music and Entertainment Gospel Awards) has magnificently unveiled her Nominees for the 2014 edition. The classy unveiling event tagged “Pre-Noms Party” is the key event after the “MEGA Music Workshop” that ushers in the mighty “MEGA AWARDS Night” already branded “THE MEGA SHOW” by the Award’s Central Working Committee (CWC), organizers of the Gospel Award, taking place on November 14, 2014, at the Haven Event Centre, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

The Nominees’ unveil was held at the Combo Hall of the Lagos Television, Ikeja, Lagos. Although, it started 15 minutes behind schedule (5pm) after a brief red carpet (4pm), on October 21, 2014. It was a top-notched show laced with glitz, razzmatazz and fanfare. It was a memorable night of excellent entertainment and colorful marriage of drama, comedy and palatable musical performances from top emerging gospel acts. The guest artistes drawn from the major geographical locations of Nigeria unleashed five-star performances to the delight of the audience who were asking for more. The thrilling performances no doubt made the event grand. Notably among them were vivacious Esselyte, a Niger-Delta trado-contemporary songstress and her dramatic group and Liyia, a fast-raising Gospel Hip-Hop artiste and her creative dance crew. Others are Itunu Segun Oseni, an inspiring songbird and veteran gospel Reggae act, Paul Parsol. Top Comedian and Musician, Omo Jesu, brilliantly anchored the event. He added more colour to the event with his hilarious musical displays and trademark juicy jokes. Remarkably, the event was aired live on Nigerian’s Premier private FM Radio Station, Ray Power Fm and Top Radio Fm Simultaneously

. The well-packaged event attracted Nigerian’s distinguished celebrities such as broadcasting guru, Dr. Larry Izamoje (founding Chairman, Brilla Sports Radio); Music legend, Laolu Akins, Deji Irawo, CEO, Exclusive to Divinity (X2D) Television Channel; Gloria Rhodes of Steve Rhodes Foundation, Flo Nathan Akiremi, MEGA Artiste of the year (2013), Taiwo Oladoye, MEGA Best New Act (2013), Ebele the Flutist, Mercy Joseph, Ejiro Adigbo, Publisher of Top Celebrities Magazine; Perry Martins, CEO, Gospotainment Radio; Olusola Tomoloju, Publisher, Christian News Scroll Magazine, among others. Of course, there were also adequate attendance from music fans, artistes, media practitioners and general public.

Highlights of the colourful event was the unveiling of the 2014 Nominees certificates from the widely publicized pre-nomination list which formed the basis for public voting which lasted between August 30 and October 10, 2014. The unveiling ceremony was conducted by Dr. Larry Izamoje with the able assistance of Mrs. Iretunde Akintunde-Johnson and Ms. Kemi Koyejo. In his brief speech, while unveiling. Izamoje appealed to the pre-nominated artists to imbibe the spirits of sportsmanship if they were not nominated. He urged them to go home, work harder and wait for their time to come. Amidst the joy and disappointment among their fans and relations, out of the pre-nominated list of over 160, close to 104 nominations were unveiled out of 24 categories. A certificate of Nomination was presented to them by Pastor (Mrs.) Titilayo Adeosun, Izamoje and Ebele.

Gbemmy Wondergirl (from Abeokuta, Ogun State), Cris Emerald (from Benin City, Edo State) commended the organizers for the great efforts making the event hitch-free and successful. While another pre-nominee, Will Adiks who flew in from River State capital, Port Harcourt for the Pre-Noms party, commended the organizers for the event, though he lamented that he was not considered for nomination and was only giving back to PH with Nomination Certificates of his friend, Preye. Finally, the show was rounded off with mass celebration by successful Nominees which rained the entire venue with thanksgiving to God.

Notwithstanding, the organizers of the event, attributed its success to the massive support of selfless and positive Nigerians and corporate bodies such as the management of Lagos state Television for the donation of the Combo Hall, Daar Communications’ Raypower (for live coverage), Dr. Larry Izamoje, Deji Irawo (for X2D coverage), WebTV (for media sopport); the management of Top Radio ( live coverage), and Abelinis for Sound Equipment. Others are GSK for Lucozade Boost drink, Nutricima Plc (for Olympic and Yo drinks), Mrs. Nike Adebayo of Events Management Services (for hall decoration and lights); 3P’s (for DJ, carpet and strobe light), apart from a host of others.
